A friend of the family.... lost both his parents in plane crash yesterday....

Plane crash kills couple from Tryon
By Tara Roberson
Stillwater NewsPress
A Tryon couple set to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 30 died Thursday when their small airplane crashed into a wooded area near Chester, Ark.

The bodies of Hurcel “Mac” and Pat McCutchen were found in the wreckage of their small plane in a rural area of northeastern Crawford County, Ark., authorities said.

Chester is about 20 miles northeast of Fort Smith in western Arkansas.

Gary Johnson, director of Stillwater Regional Airport, said he was contacted by Arkansas authorities Thursday evening.

“I was able to confirm that the plane was based at Stillwater Regional Airport for many years,” he said.

Deputies and other emergency personnel were sent to the site after a man reported finding the wreckage.

He allegedly told authorities the plane was in several pieces, but had apparently not burned.

Johnson said he notified the family and began checking on the crash.

“The plane departed Tunica, Miss., just after 12:30 p.m.,” Johnson said.

An anniversary announcement for the McCutchens was published Sunday in the NewsPress.

They have three sons, two daughters and eight grandchildren.

According to the announcement, they met while attending junior high school in Tulsa.

Mac proposed to his wife in a letter while serving in the U.S. Navy and they became engaged when she received a ring by Mistletoe Express.

They were married in 1954 and stationed in California, returning to Oklahoma after Mac was discharged.

They lived in Wagoner, Chouteau and Tulsa before settling in Tryon, where they had resided for 39 years.

Mac retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1976 and he and Pat opened a Napa Auto Parts Store in Tryon in 1979.

Pat ran the store while Mac started another business, Central Tank Service, Inc. In 1985, their son, Chris, took over the oil service business and Mac opened Mac’s Auto Sales in Stillwater.

They closed the Napa store in 1988 and Pat joined Mac at their business in Stillwater.

They retired Oct. 1 with plans to travel. Mac received his pilot’s license in 1985.

Johnson said he had known the McCutchens for many years.

“This is a great loss to Stillwater,” he said. “They touched a lot of lives.”

Johnson said the National Transportation Safety Board was contacted and he spoke with them Thursday evening.

He said the lead investigator from the NTSB was expected to be on the scene Friday morning.

“The investigation will take a few days and then it will take several weeks before a report is available,” Johnson said.

Officials from the NTSB could not be reached Friday.

I did learn that it is Black Powder Season on Deer, finally! They are really causing lots of problems for the farmers, and anyone who has a car!! Their numbers are really increasing! hehe but so are the human ones.. hehehe...

James Bartlett Snethen Family of Kingfisher, OK.

Here is an keepsake photo of Grandma Moffat's grandfather James Bartlett Snethen and his wife, Ruth Ellen Milham Snethen and their 14 kiddos. they were all born in Illinois, except the youngest that was born in Oklahoma after James loaded 13 kids and wife on to train and moved the family to Kingfisher, OK. This would be the Great Great Grandparents of the Stan Moffat kiddos.... on Elinore Mae Siegrist Moffat side of the family~!

James Bartlett Snethen and Ruth Ellen Milham were married in Jasper County, Illinois, on the 9th of February, 1884 by J. W. Jackson, Pastor. Witness's were George and Naomi Davis.
It was said that when the kids looked out and saw the doctor coming down the road, they knew it was almost time for another addition.
James was born 22 of June, 1858 in Gardnersville, PC, Kentucky, and died 24 of July, 1940 in Kingfisher, OK.
Ruth Ellen Milham was born on the 15 of January, 1868 in Newton, Jasper Co., Illinois and dies the 27 of December, 1955 in Kingfisher, OK.
Maude Clifton Snethen was the 5th of the kiddos born in this union, of 14 total. She is the mother of Elinore Mae, my mom. She used to talk all the time about how wonderful it is to have a big family, now I know why!!!
All for now. Found this and thought you all might enjoy seeing some of the kin!

Baling hay at Mom's in 2004

Jake and I baling round bales at Grandma Moffat's in Perkins, OK. the end of September, 2004. Jake was raking the hay and I was baling. There was about 60 bales of hay from this field this time and about 100 from it in the early summer, thanks to all the rain this past season.
(photo by stan click to enlarge)

The John Deere equipment was something Dad was very proud of. Over the summer of 2004, Jake and I put up over 800 bales of hay. Not bad for a poor boy operation. This is plenty of hay for our cattle this season, no matter how harsh the winter. This is exciting, as last winter we had to buy hay to finish it out.
Jake is getting ready to help Marilyn build some fence and sell come cattle, so guess we will too. This is kind'a like the fall harvest season around here. Lots of folks looking for cattle for the wheat pasture, and fewer folks having cattle to market means the prices have stablized a bit at the upper end, but like most things in farming, if a crop of one type does good, everyone runs and plants that crop. In cattle, when prices head up, everyone keeps back replacement heifers to introduce into the cattle herds and the numbers increase and the price falls... same ole same ole...

Jake and Mom headed to Vassar Mfg. yesterday in Perkins to buy some parts for post hole digger we bought right after we moved to Stillwater in 1960. The folks there helping look up the parts were amazed to find that the digger was one of the earliest ones Vassar built. Like the 7th one or so!! How bout them apples??? If you build them good and sound they will last! The digger is very heavy and goes on the back end of a tractor, and takes two folks or sometimes three to hook it up! Today, I bet the diggers being built are far from that heavy and not built half as well.

Campaign season is about over. Mom wanted NO SIGNS put up on her land and we have respected that, even though we would like to put up one or two, but one canidate has put up signs on Mom's corner on highway, against her wishes, so I would encourage everyone who reads this and is in the district where you can vote for Denny, that you vote for anyone else but this person! Or don't vote in this race at all!! Denny has zero respect for Mom's wishes!!

Had an interesting visit with our County Law enforcement this am. Seems there was a cow out on our road. Jake has seen our neighbor to the west getting in a cow in his pasture last Sunday, but most along this road know we run cattle so we get the call or visit. I asked the law enforcement officers how they knew it was ours, before they ran in said cow, and one replied, " Well, it was expecting, and very big, and it was black, and it went through your fence!" sigh..... so are most of our neighbors, and .. oh well, maybe you had to be here to hear how he said it... haha... but am greatful she is off the road so no one will hit it, regardless of who's it is.

Still working on some family genealogy. Have corrosponded with my fourth cousin, Benjamin Hall, in California. He is forwarding some information to us regarding the Snethen family. Have recieved some things, and lots of it regarding Blankinship family from a very nice gentlemen, James Warner Blankenship, regarding Paul's family. Got a long way to go, but with folks like Mom, these fine gentlemen, and William Shaklee, in OKC., the way might be easier!

All for now...
Enjoy the day!

Here is first pic of Kaitlyn...

Hope this helps those like me who can not see the picture inside the picture to find her in it! Won't be long!! Heather received a good report yesterday too. All is on schedule and will be happening around the 1st of May. She says maybe by Christmas, they will know if it's a boy or girl! Enjoy the day!

Update for everyone

Jonathan here. I just put an update on our site, but thought I would put one here too.

We went to the doctor yesterday, and everything is still going good. The baby was moving and her heart rate was awesome. It just doesn't seem like she wants to come out at all. During an earlier appointment, they said that the doctor wouldn't let her go 39 weeks, but 39 weeks is this Saturday, so who knows.

We are ready to have her here though!! That is for sure. We go back this Thursday, so maybe we will have more information there.

OH.... and thanks to mom, dad and Jake for coming down and helping me celebrate my birthday.. And YES!! Bob's was great!! haha...

Paul, Andrew and Heather.... soon there will be four, 4!!

OH.. yes.. update on the new addition at Heather and Paul's... Andrew's new brother/sister's arrival is still on track and come spring, there will be someone else for Andrew to play with at his home. First of April, if I remember correctly!! But, if you know me, you know I am old, and memory is fading... haha... well, ok, one ha!? So with the arrival of Kaitlyn, seems there is never a day that I do not think about the "other" arrival coming in the Spring!! My best to you three!! I am sure Andrew will share (tell) you how to raise your new arrival!

Heather had a Doctor's Appointment this am, and here is the correction she sent me...

Dad

We saw the doctor this morning and everything looks good and sounded
good we heard the heartbeat and it was 165-168. I am due about the first
of May not April. We should find out around Christmas if Andrew will
have a baby brother or a baby sister. If you were to ask him about it
today he would tell you that mommy has his baby sister in her tummy and
he has his baby sister in his tummy as well. Our next appt is November
15 for some lab work and to hear the heartbeat again.

H
How cool is that!!! go Andrew.. make us all rich!!!

Sunrise in Stillwater yesterday was awesome!

The sunrise on the ole Moffat homestead yesterday was awesome. Have more pics, but no time to get them online yet.. Enjoy the day!

What's been happening... Heard:
Phil, Tammy and Austyn took Grandma Moffat to the Homecoming Parade in Stillwater Saturday. Heard it was "OK".
Marilyn and Peggy went to the game... and did not "encourage" the OSU side as good as they should have!!!
Jake mowed yards for everyone this weekend, and we truly appreciate it!!
The grandsons have their Halloween clothes figured out and are on the tarmack... in a holding pattern awaiting take off!!
I been working on family genealogy. Lots of great things from the Shaklee family and from the Blankinship family.. actually all have been very willing to help! THANKS!
There might be another Family Garage Sale at great grandma's this weekend???
OU won their game!!!
Close to time to start selling fall calves.
and start feeding hay!
and get the election over!
Uncle Ivan was in the hospital and is much better, Aunt Freda says, as of last night. Our best to him and her... They are in our prayers.
Uncle Calvin has received a bit of bad news regarding health, but knowing how strong he is and his strong will, and with all the prayers and love of the family, I bet he bounces back quickly!
I knew that my Dad always made reference to my Mom being to "Nosey" but know that I have had the opportunity to see her lifetime of work regarding family genealogy, I am so very thankful she was!! It is unbelievable!
Jake and Great Grandma spent a few days in town last week... got to keep Mom in town!! Phil and Tammy did it Saturday, and Marilyn and her spent some time there Sunday! For a little ole farm girl, Mom sure loves town!!!
Jake is supposed to start helping Dennis Beyl, a neighbor and world renowned house mover this week. Dennis moved a 400 ton glass sided, 2 story building 3/4 of a mile using 88 truck tires under it and walking behind it with the electronic control in his hand to send information to the motors under it! It was wild. He has been written up in many magazines, newspapers and Discovery is putting together an hour show about it. No cracks in the glass, the board was meeting when Dennis told those inside to abandon the building as he was starting the jack up process... they walked out of the board room leaving papers, coffee, etc on the board table and when the building was on the other side and ready to lower this past week, the board went into the room and reported it was really a sight for sore eyes! No spilt coffee, or papers on the floor, etc. everything was just as it was. The move was in the 300,000 dollar range, but to build the building back would cost 3.95 million! The guy is unbelievable! He can and does move the things no one else will move!! And DOES it!
Ok.. enough on that. Will try to post the article online soon that was written up in Perkins paper.
Used to fly racing pigeons, and this is the time of year that the babies race. Kinda miss it. But not the expense of training every day, hauling the babies 60 to 100 miles a day to get them started good.
More later.. keep the faith, enjoy the day!
